Over the past 3 weeks, Steve and I have been checking the traps up at Pukekauri. The predators are definitely making themselves more evident again with the weather warming up.

During the last week of term and the school holidays we have caught 9 rats or mice and 6 possums.

With the addition of our 2 Flipping Timmy possum traps being installed during this time, we are getting consistent strikes on these.

A trail cam and lots of half eaten rats/ mice have revealed many more feral cats in the bush, so a cat trap has also been installed further down the line.

Just before the holidays the Weweia were spotted as a pair which was very exciting, so we hope to see some little chicks out and about in the coming term!
